Receptionists are all very friendly and professional, instantly makes you feel welcomed. Overall the hotel is very well decorated, striking a good balance between being luxurious, elegant but not pretentious. The room is comfortable and well furnished with most of the furniture that one should need, although the room is honestly too small given the rate, including the washroom. The toilet is awkwardly located at the corner, I very much enjoy a spacious washroom when I'm travelling, so the size of the washroom was a bit disappointing given that our room was supposed to be tier 2. However, the most negative aspect of the stay was definitely the Hawthorn bar and restaurant. My friend and I sat at the center of the wood at the mostly empty bar, and we chatted for at least 3-4 minutes amongst ourselves before the bartender finally acknowledged us and gave us menus and glasses of water. It was perplexing to us because the bartender definitely saw us sitting at the bar, and the restaurant and wood weren't that busy at all. There was also a service cart with empty, yellow milk crates on top. I myself work in a bar so I know these are things that shouldn't be inside the bar during service when guests are present. The cart remained there inside the bar for the entirety of the night when we were there. The supervisor of the restaurant walked by the bar several times but took no action to remove it. In total I ordered two cocktails, my friend ordered two beers and we shared an appetizer. The bartender came to ask us if we'd like to order more drinks and/or food, but never once came back to do a quality check with us with the drinks and food. She never refill our empty water glasses, or asked to see if we needed more ketchup. Overall it was not a level of service that we expected from a Fairmont.
Tried the pool, gym, and spa and received excellent help at the front desk. Strongly recommend this hotel - the room was comfortable and helped make for a great time in Calgary.
This was a lovely hotel with nice amenities. The staff was very friendly especially Neal the concierge, who provided lots of good advice. I would have only liked the hotel restaurant/bar to stay opened a bit later.

There quite a few deficiencies in the room that the employees offered to help with, and did everything they could to make it more pleasant but couldn’t rectify most of them while I was there. Upon check in, there were 3 items missing from the snack/mini bar and I let the front desk know right away. I also mentioned it at check out. Despite that, I was still charged for a 1oz $32 bottle of scotch. Are rich people so far out of touch that they would pay $32 for a single oz of mediocre scotch?
First class in an historic hotel.
Overall I enjoyed my stay. I think the front desk staff, housekeeping, and Chetan Guppta were professional and pleasant. Room was clean. I'm grateful for the accommodation that was made by Chetan in conjunction with my delayed and canceled flights. The only aspect that was challenging was the loud sounds of water turning on and off in the late hours from other room(s)..but I'm not sure how to minimize those sounds. It was disruptive to sleep.
